All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) executive committee led by Arc Kabir Ibrahim has called on Faruk Mudi and his alleged caretaker committee of AFAN to stop running around and wait for the court to determine who controls the leadership of the association.
Ibrahim said this in a statement responding to the N500million suit filed against him and his executive committee by the caretaker committee.
Mudi and his caretaker committee had filed the suit against the national executive committee of AFAN led by Kabir Ibrahim for calling their committee fraudulent.
The caretaker committee led by Mudi alleged that the tenure of Ibrahim and his team had ended.
The suit filed at the FCT High Court, Abuja, in Suit No. CV/31/3537/20 is seeking damages of N500million.
But responding to the suit, Arc Ibrahim said, “Faruk Rabi’u Mudi and his cohorts filed a suit against me and my purportedly dissolved executives, at the National, State and Ward levels, before Justice Taiwo Taiwo in Court 9 Federal High Court Abuja. The matter is yet to be determined.
“It therefore means that any action by the Plaintiffs relating to opening an office, opening an account and collecting money from the Nigerian farmers as well as colluding with the minister of agriculture and rural development to collect inputs on behalf of AFAN and the Nigerian farmers is fraudulent. They should await the determination of their suit ref: FHC/ABJ/CS/322/2020 dated 5/3/2020.”
Ibrahim said there is no place for caretaker committee in AFAN constitution. According to him, “Section 11 A of the AFAN constitution states that the Board of Trustees (BOT) of AFAN after the first election comprises of the registered trustees, the elected national president together with his two deputies and six national executives drawn from each of the six geopolitical zones.
“The claim that Admiral (rtd) Murtala Nyako sat in his living room without other members of the BOT to appoint them as a Caretaker Committee is null and Void.”
