President Muhammadu Buhari’s intervention in the internal crisis facing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will start yielding positive signs in a matter of days, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, has assured.
He spoke after meeting with President Buhari at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.
The Senate President also lamented the worsening insecurity across the country, particularly in the north, saying the National Assembly believed more resources should be channeled into security to help government achieve its most fundamental duty of protecting lives and property.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the meeting, Lawan noted the APC crisis needed to get urgent attention from all stakeholders, adding that the stability of the ruling party had much to do with the stability of the nation.
While he hoped that leaders of the party from across the country would share the same vision of nipping the crisis before it degenerates beyond control, he noted that solving the very many problems of the party would have to come from what the party’s constitution prescribed.
He said he felt the party should not be allowed to slip deeper into crisis further, which was why he decided to meet with the President, adding that in a matter of days, certain actions would be taken to this end.
