The newly appointed acting Comptroller General, Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), Dr. Godwin Sunday Audu has promised Nigerian Agro exporters smooth business operations under his watch.
Dr. Audu, who was speaking shortly after taking over the leadership of the agency, said NAQS is committed to enhancing the export environment by expediting inspection and certification services, streamlining application processes, and automating quarantine procedures.
These efforts, he said, are aimed at significantly making life easier for agro-exporters and reducing the processing time for agricultural export documentation.
While commending his predecessor, Dr. Vincent Isegbe who is also the pioneer Comptroller General of NAQS, for what he called “his commendable service and commitment to establishing a solid foundatIon for the agency’, Audu said he was committed to building on the good works of the former CG.
He outlined his areas of focus to include optimizing operatIons of the agency at interstate control stations to minimize delays in the haulage of agro commodities and collaborate with stakeholders to address and eliminate illegal operators causing bottlenecks on Federal highways.
According to him, “In alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of the present administratIon and the strategic blueprint of the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, we shall do more in the delivery of our services and mandate.”
He stressed the need for discipline, order, and inclusiveness within the organization, describing them as of utmost importance if the agency was to achieve its mandate.
While promising a good work environment for the officers, the acting CG pledged his commitment to human capital development for the officers and the sustainability of equal opportunities for all personnel.
He also assured all stakeholders that the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service is dedicated to enhance its service delivery, aligning its mandate with the Renewed Hope agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
