The National Rescue Movement (NRM) has denied any arrangement to team up with any other political party in support of a particular candidate for the September governorship election in Edo State.
The party in a statement signed by its national Publicity secretary, Chinedu Obi, said, “The attention of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our party has been drawn to a fake news flying around that it is part of 35 political parties in alliance to support a particular candidate in the State.
“Much as the NRM is aware that there are only 18 registered political parties in Nigeria and could not have been in alliance with deregistered political parties, it would be necessary to clear the air on this falsehood. The NRM therefore calls on our supporters to disregard the rumour.
“The NRM is pursuing its campaign with singleness of purpose, but may be open to some kind of alliance in which it will be the principal party in the election, unless circumstances dictate otherwise.”
