The federal government has said it is committed to creating an enabling environment for media organisations in the country to thrive and do their business.

Minister of Information and National Orientation,  Alhaji Mohammed Idris who stated this on Monday in his opening remarks at the ongoing Ministerial Sectoral Update press briefing on the achievements of the present administration in its first year in office, said the government is creating an enabling environment for all players and stakeholders in the media and information ecosystem to thrive.

He said the President has directed the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, through the Bank of Industry (BOI), to extend its single-digit interest-rate financing to media organizations in the country.

He said, “We are resolute in making sure that in communicating government activities, our watch word is to Restore Trust in public communication as we amplify policies and programmes of the President Tinubu administration.”

He said it is now incumbent upon media practitioners to develop bankable proposals to access this financing facility being offered by the Federal Government, and expressed the hope that media organisations will take full advantage of the opportunity.

Idris said the sectoral update is in line with the desire of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to not dwell on fanfare in his First Year but to fully be accountable to Nigerians by projecting the successes recorded in the Federal Government’s development objectives, known as the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Renewed Hope Agenda has eight priority areas, covering the following: Reforms for Sustained Growth, National Security, Food Security, Energy & Natural Resources, Infrastructure, Human Capital Development, Economic Diversification, and Governance.

“By working impactfully across all these areas, President Tinubu and the entire administration are determined to leave a lasting transformative impact on Nigeria.”

He said the objective of the  briefing is to enlighten, inform and educate Nigerians and the world, and to ensure that everyone is carried along through the provision of detailed, relevant, credible and timely information.

Two ministers, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security,  Senator Abubakar Kyari and his Aviation counterpart, Barr. Festus Kyamo briefed on Monday.
