Juventus Football Club pulled a rare comeback in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night, cancelling a 2 – 0 deficit in the first leg to beat Athletico Madrid of Spain 3 – 0 on the night.

It took a virtuoso performance from Cristiano Ronaldo for Juve to complete the feat. The Portuguese superstar netted three goals past Juan Oblak in goal for Athletico to make a perfect night for the Italian giants.

The goals gave Ronaldo his eight Champions League hat-trick, taking him on equal terms with Lionel Messi in number of Champions League hat-tricks.

With this victory, Juventus have booked their place in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Juventus played a high pressure game, with their defence solidly marshaled by Giorgio Cchielini, Matuidi and Bonucci to neutralize Athletico’s attacking formation anchored on Anton Griezzman, Morata and Correa. Athletico never had a foothold on the game, and rarely threatened the Italian old ladies.

Juventus joins Ajax Amsterdam, FC Porto, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs that have already qualified for the quarter finals of the Champions League.
