The Lebanese Ambassador to Nigeria, M Houssam Diab, on Thursday, walked out on the House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs.
The Ambassador was summoned by the Committee to respond to the alleged maltreatment of Nigerians in Lebanon, especially one Temitope Arowolo, undergoing trial for alleged attempted murder.
The Lebanese Envoym who was not impressed with the presence of the media at the venue of the meeting, walked out of the room at about 10.52am when the meeting was about to start.
Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, said she was shocked the “Ambassador will just get up and walk out on us”.
She told newsmen the Ambassador honoured the invitation as a mark of respect for the country but was not expecting the media because he was unaware the House records all its meetings.
She however warned that Nigerians must be wary of human traffickers masquerading as employment agents.
