Wapic Insurance Plc is offering health workers across the country, a 15 per cent discount on new policies taken up in 2020 to help cushion financial hardship associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rebate to health workers, according to the firm, covers Personal Accident, Householder Insurance and Motor Insurance, which runs for the tenor of the policies. In line with the discounts regulation, it said, this rebate do not apply on renewal of the rebated policies.
Speaking on the development, the managing director of Wapic Insurance, Mrs Adeyinka Adekoya, said this corporate gesture is in appreciation of the noble effort of the health workers, who are in the frontline of the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The insurer, had, last week, pioneered an initiative aimed at giving refunds to its motor insurance policyholders. The gesture is set to cost the company, millions of Naira in premium revenue.
The offer from Wapic Insurance ensures that customers with active policies are automatically credited with refunds based on the lockdown period.
Since the coronavirus outbreak in the country, Wapic Insurance has been at the forefront of Insurance sector contributions towards the fight against the pandemic, contributing N40 million to the federal government’s Covid-19 response effort.
Wapic is also one of the insurers underwriting free health cover for Nigeria’s 5000 health workers. These, the company said, is demonstrating its commitment to sustainable business practices by fighting the pandemic through its core underwriting products and services
