Farmers/Herders Clash: Presidency Pledges Support for Kogi LGA

The Presidency has assured residents of Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State that it will continue to support the area to ease the hardship brought about by the clashes between crop farmers and herdsmen in the area.

Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Community Engagement for the North Central zone, Hon. Abiodun Essiet, who made this pledge when  a delegation made up of his team and that of  the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme visited the area, however emphasized the need for peace and tolerance insisting that peaceful coexistence remains an important tool and pillar for development.

Essiet, who was represented by Hon. Lateefa Aspitah Isah conveyed the Goodwill message of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to the people of Omala and donated 80 bags of rice to the victims of the conflict while pledging the continuous support of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu  to alleviate the plight of all Nigerian citizens.

She said the bags of Rice are part of the palliative from Mr President to assist victims of conflict in Omala Local Government Area.

The SSA assured the community of the President’s  commitment to protect lives and properties of all Nigerians and his resolve to engage Nigerian citizens at the grassroots for all-inclusive governance.

Meanwhile, Omale community benefited from NG-CARES intervention through the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA.

Head of Kogi State CARES Coordination Unit who represented the NG-CARES, Sani Haruna, told the community to take advantage of the government intervention through the NG-CARES Programme to get more developments to the area, citing CSDA and Fadama as some of the NG-CARES intervention that the Omale community can benefit from.

Responding on behalf of the community, the District head of Abejukolo, Chief Suleiman Abimaje appreciated the Federal and State governments for their support and appealed for the citing of military base in the area.

NG-CARES Programme’s Development Objective is “To Expand access to livelihood support and food security services and grants for poor and vulnerable households and firms.
