Police Arrest LGA Collation Officer in Imo

    The Police in Imo State have arrested a local government collation officer, Professor Christian Ehirim, in the ongoing gubernatorial elections in the state.
    Ehirim who is the collation officer for Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area, was arrested on the orders of Professor Christian Ogbuagu, returning officer for Imo State, for allegedly altering the results of the LGA.
    Ehirim’s arrest was effected on Monday morning inside the state election results collation centre, immediately Ogbuagu alleged that the results from the LGA had been doctored by Ehirim. Ogbuagu’s allegation suggests that he had the results as announced from the field before the alleged alteration of the results by Ehirim.
    Ogbuagu is the vice chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State.
    In the election results so far announced, Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state was leading in the race 11 local government areas.
    Ihedioha, a former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, has as huis major contenders for the Imo Governorship seat, Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress, Uche Nwosu of the of the Action Alliance, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and Ikedi Ohakim of the Accord Party.
