Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday visited President Muhammadu Buhari in London.
The meeting came following reports that the former Akwa Ibom State Governor will be defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) this week.
The Head of Digital Communication of the Presidency, Tolu Ogunlesi, confirmed the meeting between the President and Akpabio in London on Sunday on his Tweeter handle, @toluogunlesi.
“Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West District, and Senate Minority Leader, today in London met with PMB,” he tweeted.
He attached photographs of the meeting between the two leaders.
Buhari is currently on a 10-working day vacation and would be in London, United Kingdom, throughout the vacation period.
Last week the rumour broke out that Akpabio and three PDP governors, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Dave Umahi of Eboyi State and Ben Ayade of Cross River State, were set to dump PDP for APC. Although Ayade has since dismissed the rumour affirming that he remains a PDP member, others have remained silent.
